Which VPN (for ipad and iphone) works in China?

gonna travel there for a couple weeks around June, but the nature of my work requires video calls (on zoom), whatsapp and of course google services.

realise that many threads here are about configuring your own VPNs? like V2ray or something, i’m not really a tech expert and i’d like to not have anything weird downloaded on my ipad as there’s some sensitives files on there.

also, being an ipad or iphone, it’s hard to customise anything.

last time i went i used some free VPNs but not sure they work anymore. i don’t mind paying for a month of a VPN subscription, as long as it works.

Use creamvpn.cloud with shadowrocket or stash (a clash client for iphone/ipad). It’s not very expensive and it almost always connect under a second with connection speed fast enough to watch 1080p youtube (or maybe even higher quality)

迷雾通 is free and worked pretty well. Not sure what about now.

in china right now, same situation as you, astril works fine, and then i just use airalo for an esim to use data if i don’t have access to wifi

ExpressVPN sometimes works, maybe for a few weeks then gets blocked for one whole month. Different carrier, location, client version (PC, iOS, Android, etc) and different server location produces wildly variable results.

Astrill works better, many servers work consistently across all carriers.

https://caonima.io with desktop client (Windows, MacOs, Linux)

does expressVPN still work? it used to be my go to.

what do you mean by esim haha, do u not need a vpn when using esim? sorry very bad at tech

esims don’t work in China do they?

Express is rubbish. If you suck at tech get Astrill.

No express hasnt worked for years.

mine does, using airolo and can connect to whatever sites i want

If I get a Esim on Airalo do I still need to get a VPN? Or I can access the sites as google, YouTube, IG… normally without a VPN and just the Esim?

You can access all sites like google/youtube/etc normally without a vpn and just the esim, it just gets expensive topping up on data

Awesome! Thank you for the help!
