Why do so many people hate Nord vpn?

Sorry if it was already asked before but I just started the trial and I keep reading everywhere how bad they are but no one is giving any explicit reason on why they’re so bad. I’ve never used vpns before so maybe I’m missing something, but for me so far it’s working great. While torrenting I get about the same speed as without a vpn. Can somebody please enlighten me?

I used to think it was alright but then it became absolutely annoying. Couldn’t login without it opening a browser to do so instead of directly thru the application, and it would constantly close without connecting properly due to the screwy login method. The only times I’ve had an issue w DMCA notices were when I was using Nord, I have some kinda cheap deal that made sense at the time but once it’s up won’t be using this program anymore, it just doesn’t seem to work well anymore. Just my two cents.

If they have your credit card information they will automatically bill you after your 2 year is complete.Sure no problem but it’s not the introduction rate, significantly more expensive and your stuck because the automatic billing in the fine print.

To add on, last I used it, the mobile app was terrible. It wouldn’t tell you it disconnected, which it would do anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour usually. I think it would let me get internet without vpn with killswitch on. I switched to wireguard, which isn’t noob friendly, and it just works great, although you have you have individual configs for every server you want to connect to.

Also the browser login thing sucks. The linux app is cool but crashed my pi a few times. Them pushing their other products is awful. Even in the command line: New feature, MESHNET, like come on.

I’ve had no issues with nord. Using it almost 2 years.

Dogshit torrent download speeds.

I’m using Nord…they had a cheap offer for 2 years so I went for it. It’s not bad. Thanks to this sub I just discovered the ‘binding to network interface’ option in QBittorrent and it works with Nord a lot better for me than my old uTorrent 2.2.1.

I was using Private Internet Access before that so take my review with a grain of salt  They were also not bad but I heard they’re a front for government, lol.

Edit: Removed duplicate comment.

I’ve been using nord for a few years. I use it w/ qtorrent in Linux. I bind it to qtorrent and use the kill switch and run through a proxy server. The proxy server seem slow most days and slower other days and occasionally fast. After torrenting for maybe 20 minutes to a few hours, the proxies will stop, so I have to do a reboot.

I also use it in windows for non torrenting. It generally works pretty well. It likes to make me login from the website every so often, which is a pain in butt, especially when my wife is trying to use the internet and stuff is locked down. They recently updated their gui to remove the ability to select the exact server you connect to.

The one thing I really really hate about nordvpn (looking for an alternative to replace this crap), IT BLOCKS WEBSITES.

I got nordvpn so it can hide my IP… But instead it ALSO blocks access to various websites. The worst thing… This is not a consistent issue. What I cannot access on my laptop, I for some reason CAN ACCESS on my desktop. Both setups have the same version of nordvpn. Both versions have the same OS. I can’t figure this out.

These websites becomes accessible when I disable nordvpn. And just the laptop needs this.

The desktop can access those sites just fine, WITH nordvpn enabled. It is such an inconsistent program. Nord sucks.

3 months extra if you use the below link :backhand_index_pointing_down:

Count me among those that hate Nord and anything Nord related.
I ordered a 30 day subscription to start, after paying, they never sent the verification code to the email address I used to create the account.

Tried calling/emailing cus sup, to no avail.

just downloaded - apk wouldnt work, was linked to a page that said “page couldnt be reached”. Tried their help center link and it went to an error that said “this site cant provide secure connection”. THATS WHAT YOU DO

Make sure to remove the automatic resub, it will resub to standard rates without any discounts. They might send you an offer prior to rebilling, but if you tend to overlook mails oder they get sorted to spam, you will miss this. “Paddle”, which is handling billing for NVPN might get spam reported…

Just a normal user, used nord because seen it’s name a lot and needed to download torrents. Before nord got a email from isp more than once. After nord i got none

They try to lure you in with these deals that make it seem worthwhile, but when the final bill arrives you’ll wonder what went wrong.

Pay for reviews, make false claims like fastest VPN when they are not Pia is faster etc. No wireguard manual set up, poor support list goes on

I’m aware about the paid reviews and I tried reading about it on reddit and forums and most people hate it without saying why. Just the usual “I don’t like it”, “It sucks” and “Avoid it” but no one posts any actual reason why. The only seemingly valid reasons I could find are the high price and they can’t be trusted because they actually operate from Lithuania and their actual owner is a comapny who specializes in data mining.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. The login on the browser is indeed very annoying. Did you actually get DMCA notices while using the VPN ? This was my most important reason to get a vpn in the first place and getting these notices is definetly a deal breaker for me.

The bit about logging in, it’s the most infrurating part of this VPN it’s complete GARBAGE

Do not go with Nord, I didn’t I went with Atlas then they were outbought by these blood suckers, Nord is a complete scam it dont even work half the time

What do you use now instead? Mullvad has been the exact opposite of this for me, painless account/payment creation, you get the application and you are off. Keep the account paid and it goes till whenever. I like them, but I often use my own vpn. Mullvad for other things
