Windows KB5036893/KB5036892 break VPN connections, is GlobalProtect affected?

Microsoft declare that the last update breaks some VPN connections, I suppose they are talking about the integrated ones like L2TP, but I have found no precise info about it.

Have you find some problem with GlobalProtect or other VPNs with the last update?

Installed KB5036892 on my 22H2 April 12th and I’ve connected to GP since then.

No issues with GP experienced here.

I’ve not seen any issues with our GP clients connecting, but opened a case with our Palo support inquiring on what if any guidance from PAN-TAC there is on the topic.

It may only affect the native windows vpn client.

Thank you so much for this thread, I thought I was completely losing my mind.

My computer was crashing 3x a day for the last week.

Thought it was my Amd drivers.

I reformatted Windows 4 times and trying to install different Amd Adrenaline software. I thought I was having a compatibility issue with the new software.

I then used a tool to rid of all Amd drivers, I installed a recommended driver only.

I thought I was golden no crashes.

As soon as the updates started rolling in, the computer crashed again.

I restored the computer to an earlier point at least 2x.

I removed KB5036892 from 5/3/2024.

Computer crashed again, I removed all updates from 5/3/24.

The past week I was also experience issues with the VPN connectivity issues, dolby software issues along with my Amd GPU.

I had to restore computer to a previous point.

I finally used Policy to disable future updates.

This is where I remain. But it is so good not to have all those crashes and be able to be able to listen to my HTC again!!!

My main concern is, when do I install updates again for security vulnerability reasons?

Are we all just waiting for Microsoft to roll out a patch or update to fix this?

Thank you!!

Yes we have started seeing strange issues with PAGP recently - we are running 10.1.12

We’re using Global Protect and have been noticing lots of VPN issues since the update. VPN state going to failed (however it still is connected as can connect to internal resources i.e. groupshares/servers etc…). Random disconnects also.

We tried upgrading our Global Protect software which was on 6.2.0. We’re now on 6.2.3. This made no difference.

We tried updating the firewall firmware. No difference

We’re going to try and remove the patch on a couple of machines to see if the problem goes away.

Any else had similar experiences or even better for a fix

Thanks!
