I downloaded and installed Windscribe to watch various YouTube Videos.
I tried logging off from youtube, rebooting and having the windscribe app as well as the browser plugin activated.
Yet, so far it did not work. That is it didn’t play, noting the region/country restriction and the amount of data I can use it did not change.
The closest I got was using Firefox and Edge.
It convinced youtube to play some videos that are region restricted yet didn’t work for the newest video from the same channel.
I did notice that when I used the proxy I used before getting Windscribe, youtube got stuck on a message of “Using YouTube optimally … ”,
My system is: Windows 10
The browsers I tried are:
Brave (1.66.110)
Chrome (124.0.6367.208)
Firefox (126.0)
Edge (124.0.2478.105)
I have the same problem. When I activate Windscribe (e.g. Greece) I check my location on google maps and it actually shows my current location in Greece. Then I go on Youtube on a greek Show I want to watch and I get this “Content not available in your Country”. I tried several settings, Protocols and Ports nothing works. So I tried another VPN just to see if it works. I tried HolaVPN (free trial) and although it is time limited, it did work on youtube without any weird settings, I just turned it on… and I can’t understand why? I consider Windscribe to be a better VPN but it doesn’t work on Youtube.
Have you tried enabling the ‘location warp’ setting in the browser extension to see if this helps spoof your location? Unfortunately, browsers give up a LOT of info about your actual/physical geographical location even when connected to a VPN. I’d assume that’s probably what’s happening in your case.
I am as well confused that on Firefox it does unblock:
“S1 E14: Predatory Lending, Russian Sanctions & Iraq: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfpWf5pzLdM)
Yet it does nothing with:
“S11 E12: Corn, Commencements & Germany: 5/19/24: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93F616Cmzr8)
