Can confirm you can renew an account that’s about to expire because of payment method needed in country with the apple method.
Also there is no need to open a new google account, family transitions automatically as well.
I recently did this going from India traditional payment to Apple. I cancelled my YouTube premium and had two weeks left. I went ahead and signed up with Apple and it automatically started and cancelled the two weeks I had left. So I lost about $2 worth of service but I didn’t want to keep thinking about finding a solution that would work.

I’m currently paying full price for YouTube premium but want to go through this route, i have YouTube family will I lose the family if I cancel my subscription (you can only join a new family every 12 months)

So if I understand you corectly, you don’t need an apple device for activation like the previous tutorial. Or you still need an apple device for the first time? How do you resume/transfer the payment from itunes gift card?

So you created an Apple ID with the email associated with account to India and applied the gift cards?
Can you pay for a full year using this method?
Can you use the option of free 1month YT family plan and than continue from there to pay via apple ID which is with indian account? First I activate 1 month free and after that I top up the Indian account, did the account automatically will continue to be active and take 389 rupees per month?
Same I did yesterday… my sub will renew 30/11 but cancelled it and start one with türkiye method via Apple ! 2 weeks lost !!

Sooo pissed that the same thing happened to me. I lost 3 weeks of membership worth about $13 (billed via Saudi Arabia @ $18).
No you won’t lose the family. I just did the method today and all members remained on the family plan.

"I am now with India. But it was a bit cumbersome to do it, I followed a guide that was posted last week here. A short version is:
- Create new email (or use and old one not linked to any Apple ID)
- Create new Apple ID using the Apple Music website and choose India as your country
- Connect to a VPN for India on an iPhone or iPad (I used PrivadoVPN, free no CC required).
- Login with your new Apple ID, if a telephone number is requested use your local one.
- Go to Amazon India and buy an Apple Store gift card, I bought one for 1000 Rupees
- Top up your gift card in your Apple Account
- Go to the YouTube app and pay for the subscription, for this you can use your normal Google Account (no need to use the new email you created for this). I paid 369 Rupees for the family plan, including the 30% Apple Tax. That would be around 4.15 EUR
- Periodically you have to repeat the process of buying and toping up Indian credit"
No you need an apple account for activation but yo can top up using windows and don’t need a new google account
You need an Apple mobile device because you’ll be subscribing through Apple Media Services to YouTube Premium, which you can’t do on a PC, and there is no native YouTube app for Mac to do this from.

But for india and bought gift card from amazon india.
An apple id with the region india and the email doesn’t matter. Then buy a gift card , redeem it in app store and use it to pay for subscription
