my school blocked chrome extensions recently because everyone was using them for VPN’s and the school went mad and blocked all of them. But i want them back and need some help.
I started by trying to remove the reg edit key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google but it wasnt there in my reg edit so i couldnt delete it. Then i found this file in regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Google
but when i tried to delete it, it would say unable to delete. so i tried fixing that by giving myself the ownership of the reg edit file but when i tried to make myself owner it still wouldnt let me delete that google file to restore chrome extensions. I also tried using regdelnull but that also wouldnt work (not sure why).
anyone have a solution to my problem because i cant find anything else on google

I think you are not understanding how they accomplished blocking the extension. Your accounts must be managed and therefor or administered using policies. Your best option is to speak with IT and address your concerns.
There is no way for you to get around this. It most likely violates policy and if for some reason a way was found around this it would be noticed right away.
Lol of course there is a way but the discipline these days for acts like this is really ridiculous. My whole career started when I began snooping the highschool network. Then mafia boy took down half the world with a bitch ass dos attack (look it up) and adults suddenly got scared. So cheers but you’ll have to be a bright spark to circumvent it.
The chrome is controlled by a group policy object in active directory. You said registry so I’m assuming windows and not a Chromebook.
Can you run portable apps or ssh by chance? A reverse ssh back to home on port 443 or 80 defeats most firewall VPN security unless they are filtering by protocol. I.T people need ssh so rarely do they bother blocking it and port 80 or443 (http and HTTPS) are often allowed on the outbound for web browsing. Who needs a vpn when you are the VPN.
You should ask for permission. Write a letter to the board. Tell them it’s an academic persuit of curiosity but I’m not the cops or anything and I doubt they’ll understand curiosity. Mey try anyway.
Then once you do that come back and school these boot lickers, promptly move on to another harder issue. Don’t share your exploits with friends, they’ll get you caught.
Did they block Firefox extensions? You could just try a different browser. Might be less work.
ive always used psiphon as my vpn of choice at school. It worked for years and it never was blocked when i was still in school.

fair enough. Fr tho i am glad i never logged in to my school account years ago with chrome since sync didn’t exist back in 2017 i believe.
