Think it depends on your hardware.
I haven’t had any of those issues & I’ve been using it for a couple years.
Use all the time and love it. Have zero problem with disconnects. Sounds like you might have an issue with your underlying Internet?
I’ve been having major issues the last few days having it on 24/7. When I drop wifi, mobile data never comes back. I turn off VPN and it just hangs. I have to force stop to get the VPN to actually turn off.
Sometimes it completely borks everything and I need to reboot the phone. At this point, it’s not worth the trouble.

Does Google VPN only work in pixel phones. I’ve downloaded it to a Samsung and Amazon fire tablet but it doesn’t work on those.
I have only had issues with disconnects or failure to connect on one public Wi-Fi in a hospital, and on that particular Wi-Fi my other paid for VPN doesn’t work either. I think it blocks VPN usage. But besides that it’s been solid.
Are you on Google Fi by chance?
I just wish it was available in every country…

I have a feeling your ISP could be doing so. I mean they can literally do these malicious stuff so that users can revert to using no VPN, right?
The VPN Google offer isn’t an actual VPN. All you’re doing is changing your DNS server. It does nothing to protect your real IP or block people from snooping. If someone wanted, all they would have to do is check the Google servers you’re connected too and get your real IP from that. This includes logs of what you went on as Google have no policy on deleting logs. Those servers are not actually run by Google. It’s great in a pinch but a service like Express VPN or Proton offer real protection, true no logging and will not mess up your connection. The only downfall is that you’re paying a premium.

I’m glad they’re finally fixing my biggest issue with it. Connecting to servers on the other side of the country. The latency. The HORROR. But I hear they’re gonna update it to connect to more local ones.
Mine doesn’t even work at all and won’t connect. I think it’s because I’m part of the Android 14 beta but I’m not sure.
