I appreciate this isn’t NFL specific, but hoping to find advice here for the upcoming CFB season (and also sharing relevant VPN experience for folks exploring DAZN alternatives).
I checked the TNT Sports schedule for this weekend but don’t see any NCAA games listed.
Since ESPN Player no longer operates in the UK, I tried using a VPN (Express VPN specifically) to register for Hulu + Live TV, but it wouldn’t process, even using a US credit card.
I got slightly further with YouTube TV, but when it came to watching live content, I was getting error messages saying I wasn’t in my home area, despite changing the VPN server to match my selected zip code.
Any success stories for streaming college football in the UK?
What a shitshow. The UK has to be a top 5 international market for cfb, even if that’s small there still should be money to be made?
I enjoyed watching cfb on BT sport despite not being American or having any college rooting allegiance and always thought that it would have been a sneaky money maker for them since it’s on in primetime (again, albeit on a Saturday) but chock full of so many ads. I’m really annoyed that tnt just dropped the coverage and have replaced it with shitty UFC and wrestling reruns or Spanish badminton or whatever. If the channels didn’t come as part of my TV package with virgin media I would have a high mind to drop them. FUCK!
Yeah this is all howling into the void but I’m furious with TNT, and really confused why no one else picked it up. No natural allegiance to any team, but fell into the pattern of watching Georgia enough that I actually went out of my way on my last US road trip to do a gameday at Sanford.
My other lament is that it that I think it is far, far easier to teach people gridiron with college than NFL. Whatever our gripes with our teams in any given year, the reality is those are ~1,600 of the best athletes in the world. They can do stuff most humans can’t. Watching 11 slightly confused teenagers try and defend a run heavy game demos the basics of the sport in a slightly clearer way.
I posted the same question a couple days ago and it looks like we’re mainly out of luck. Nfl network sometimes show a match on Saturdays but it doesn’t tend to be any of the top teams as they’re all covered by other networks. Looks like VPN time
Just wondering if Sky would take up CFB?. They do the draft, hard knocks, good morning football and have have the NFL pretty much locked - it would complete the set for them
I know it’s not the same but there are always lots of live streams on YouTube and plenty of good quality. If you’re a fan of a pac 12 team the pac 12 network airs a permanent live stream on YouTube for international viewers. As a UCLA fan it comes in handy!
I mainly watch big ten, so ice had success with the following:
signed up for ExpressVPN
factory reset of of my Firesticks and used my Amazon US (Amazon.com) account
installed express vpn on firestck and set to a usa server
installed fox sports and peacock apps.
using family and friends accounts for those apps.
I’ve been told by a friend that the ESPN+ app will also work on fire stick if you have a valid account.
I’ve been unlucky with those above apps on my phone because they user the phone’s gps to determine location, regardless of your VPN location. Streaming on peacock and fox sprigs works fine, though on pc.
Just a quick heads up - Sky Sports NFL are showing 3 college football games today. Louisville at Miami, Wake Forest at Notre Dame and the crucial matchup between Washington and Oregon State. Also, they are broadcasting College Football Gameday this afternoon.
Used ExpressVPN to go through a US location and bought a SlingTV Orange+Blue package. They had a deal for the season. One was NFL and the other was NCAA.
The NFL one wasn’t really worth the effort, because it only showed a few games. Most are broadcast locally in the US and Sling doesn’t carry local stations.
But… it has ESPN-College, ESPN2 & 3, as well as a bunch of the college conference channels. That worked very well.
And SlingTV comes with 50 hours of DVD, so I was able to record my west coast games and watch them in the morning.
Reviving this for the upcoming season… Does anyone know if Sky are still only showing 3 games a week? Will they have SEC games this year? The games they showed in the back end of last season were better than nothing but hardly the best games each week.
I hate SkySports. Miss the days when BT Sport was part of ESPN. Used to be able to watch loads of college football and basketball in the Uk. Since it became TNT Sport it’s all been downhill really.
