Is anyone able to explain what might be happening please, I’m using a ROKU via ethernet to connect to my Asus router which runs Merlin firmware, I have a paid VPN setup using the VPN director feature (basically split tunneling)
I am in the UK and the Roku is a US model with which I use for Discovery+ and Hulu, Discovery+ works fine but Hulu is super aggresive with checking if you’re using a proxy or VPN. Every few hours of inactivity or sometimes during a stream it will let me use the app to browse the content but as soon as you try to play anything it shows an error screen "you may be using a proxy or vpn). I have to go to my router and change the tunneling for the Roku to another server (I have two setup NY/Washington), close and reopen the app and then it works.
This is a relatively new problem, before I had a Asus router which I used L2TP but was forced to upgrade when my VPN provider dropped support.
It’s not a massive deal but it’s pretty annoying, the only thing I can think of is stale DNS records but I don’t really know how my VPN provider configures it’s servers to obfuscate itself.
