I wanted to install a Windows 7 VM. So, I came across PowerISO website. Is it safe I was wondering
PowerISO is safe, but I’m not sure why you need it to get a Windows 7 VM running.
Poweriso genuine version : safe
Crack version : can’t say
This is the first result I got searching for the original PowerISO website which I’ve used for 2 decades. I WOULD SAY IT IS NOT SAFE for the average user. I double checked it was the official site, turns out, Windows Defender freaks out for valid reason. It is not just McAfee. Unfortunately they have also raised funding from RAV Endpoint Proteciton, VPN by RAV, and Safer Web. To my surprise there was no option during the installation process to uncheck them. These are not only annoying browser add-ons and tasks running on the background with frequent “sign up now” pop ups, but they also introduce privacy vulnerabilities as they track online activity. You will have to use something like Revo Uninstaller to ger rid of all registry files.
Its safe, been using it for decades
Do not use poweriso.
It is not a safe application.
I decided to download it but deleted it soon after as i didn`t need it. But the installation file stayed and began doing suspicious activity. My windows security began spamming messages about something called a VauginaA.exe inside the installation app as a threat. I let windows delete it but it kept coming back. So i deleted the installation app and it stopped. I am still quite worried but…
DO NOT USE OR DOWNLOAD POWERISO
Yes, have used it for years, but why do you need it?
VM’s can mount ISO files directly in the virtual CD/DVD drive. No need for intervening software.
I’ve used it many many years ago back when I used to use discs for things but there’s no need for it anymore. it’s features are built into a modern OS.
and you don’t need it to run a vm, the hypervisor supports booting directly from an ISO.
as long as the program isn’t littered with malware, it’s perfectly safe to use. just dunno why you would need it now.
Just to like delete important files for fun
Thank you for the advice
This was me, turns out my chrome google account automatically created a new account to log me in since Reddit sold out to Google. Just in case I get a reply I won’t see it.
Thats true. My windows security began spamming messages of threats.
Just to play with it in a VM
