Is the Ubuntu 21.10 torrent method still valid for testing VPN anonymity?

I read the guide (https://www.reddit.com/r/VPNTorrents/comments/ssy8vv/guide_bind_vpn_network_interface_to_torrent/) and wanted to use the linked Ubuntu 21.10 torrent to test if my vpn setting is working anonymously. However, whether I enabled mullvad vpn or not, I can download the Ubuntu 21.10. Thus I want to ask, is this method still valid?

My approach: In short, I installed docker version cr.hotio.dev/hotio/qbittorrent. It has the ability of binding vpn. I use the flag “VPN_ENABLED=” to control whether the wg0.conf from mullvad vpn is used or not. By looking at “docker logs qbittorrent”, I can see that the flag is working at controlling vpn option. When VPN_ENABLED=false, the downloading of Ubuntu 21.10 is even faster.

That’s not really about anonymity, but yes, although you could just run curl icanhazip.com in the container as well to see the public IP which should match the VPN IP.

thank you! truly as you said, the VPN IP revealed itself.
