Issue using Web Clipper extension in browser with VPN?

Hello strangers. I’m hoping someone can help me out.

I have a VPN extension for my web browser (Firefox). When it’s enabled, I’m unable to use Joplin’s Web Clipper tool, which is also a Firefox extension. It works just fine when the browser’s VPN is disconnected. Is there any way around this without having to disconnect my VPN every time I want to use the web clipper?

Attached is the error message that shows up when the VPN is enabled.

I have an option to allow local network access in main VPN on my laptop. However, the VPN’s browser extension does not have that feature.

Regarding the VPN: is it really necessary to have a VPN turned on for the web browser if your computer already has a VPN on? What is the advantage of it?
