Can you share some more details about this behavior? Is the Proton VPN app completely closed once you wake your device from sleep, or is it running but not connected to any server?
Which exact version of the Proton VPN app do you have installed?
Are you receiving any error messages when this happens?
Are you using any other VPN, proxy, or custom DNS services on your device?
Do you have any antivirus, firewall, or network monitoring software installed?
Contact us using the ‘Report an issue’ option in the app menu with some answers to the above questions so we can investigate the behavior further. Meanwhile, you can give the below steps a try to see whether there are any improvements.
-
Launch the Proton VPN app;
-
Click on the Help category from the menu;
-
Click on Clear application data and confirm;
-
Restart your system.
Afterward, launch the app again and see how it goes.
I’m in China, and can’t use ProtonVPN here. However, the one I do use, does the same thing. I’m here for the summer every year for the past 15 years, and no matter what VPN I use, the same thing happens, as you describe. I’ve found that if I have Spotify running in the background, the problem is gone. My guess is that it draws a constant stream of data, so the connection stays open.
I’ll be curious what replies you get, so I Can better understand why this happens. I also look forward to using ProtonVPN, once I return to the USA!
