New macOS Sequoia update reportedly not playing nice with VPNs and cybersecurity tools like CrowdStrike

I’ve been having issues with the VPN, and I keep losing connection to the Wi-Fi every now and then. Never had any problems before the update.

Our company had to halt recommending roll out because of VPN problems. In our case it had to do with the feature that chooses/changes the MAC address, so managed devices weren’t being recognized as enrolled

ExpressVPN also a problem.

1.1.1.1 has issues on macOS and iOS

From what has happened I think it is a really good thing that it does not work with Crowdstrike.

Umm not Apples fault crowdstrike couldnt get there sensor work properly during the betas. They never seem to make same day support for macOS

I’m using 15.1 and thankfully haven’t had issues using Nord VPN.

The built-in screenshot tool finally works for me so I’m happy.

Express VPN is a problem when teathering to my iPhone.

Never was an issue before the update to the public release of Sequoia 15.0.

I uninstalled NordVPN, removed any VPN connections under Network (since they weren’t working with the firewall turned on) and then reinstalled from the App Store (making sure to ‘always allow’ the NordVPN connection). All good now!

Our firm had issues with networking and Sonoma for a while. Took a while to get working.

macOS is trying to shut down kernel access. I don’t know why these didn’t come out in the betas tho

I do have issues with NextDNS after upgrading

I believe the title is misleading, as the issues occured with the 15.1 beta update, not the 15.0 released to general public.

I have had problems with VPNs (Nord and PIA, although weirdly, Surfshark works okay) with 15.0 release. I have reinstalled Nord and PIA; we’ll see if that fixes it.

I don’t understand people who install beta versions when they don’t need to, or even .0 releases when they first come out unless they have to for some reason. I usually wait for the .1 or .2 to come out before I upgrade, by then any kinks are worked out.

That’s not true. I’ve definitely seen networking issues when CrowdStrike is installed on the 15.0 release.

I’ve had these issues on the public releases of both 15.0 and 15.1

That’s wrong. The issue still occurs on the public release version.

I second this. None of my continuity features like messaging works while my VPN is on. Worked perfectly before 15.0 update.

Well, I don’t out much faith into crowdstrike either, but this issue is more widespread than only crowd strike. The issue is more or less confirmed by independent researchers to be caused by macOS network stack or firewall

Crowdstrike allegedly (according to themselves) reported this to Apple well in time
