Nordpass review

I’ve been using Nordpass for almost two and a half years now, so I decided to share my experience and create this Nordpass review now that my subscription is coming to an end. I personally got it a while back with a discount “getpass”, and it was definitely worth it.

What is Nordpass?

Nordpass is a service that stores passwords, credit cards, passkeys and more. It is meant to help manage accounts easier while keeping everything encrypted and safe.

The reason I got a password manager in the first place was due to a car rental company experiencing a data breach, after which I received numerous attempts to log into my accounts. This incident truly frightened me; it also required a lot of effort to clean up and change passwords. Ultimately, I decided to invest in a password manager and chose Nordpass, mainly because of its range of features at a decent price.

Nordpass features

It offers autosave and autofill features, supports passkeys, notes, credit card details, and performs all the tasks a password manager is supposed to do. I don’t want to be repetitive, as I believe another redditor did a much better job with their comparison table, listing all the features, pros, and cons.

I believe that NordPass was one the first few password managers to allow passkey storage.

Getting started, I would say, was easy. I was able to import my existing passwords. And the app itself is not overcomplicated and easy to use.

Not so long ago, an email masking feature was added. I haven’t used it much, but I already like it. When I was on holiday I needed a new taxi, food, public transport apps, and of course was asked to give my details. I don’t always want to do that to unknown apps. Email masking gave me a burner email, so I can feel more secure and don’t receive all those spam emails later.

Nordpass free vs. Nordpass premium

At first, I was using the Nordpass free version, then switched to premium. Many other password managers offer a limited number of passwords (e.g. up to 25) you can save using the free version. Nordpass does not limit the amount of passwords in the free version. Because of this, I chose Nordpass. Later, as I continued using it, I found that I needed to be able to attach files, and receiving data breach alerts seemed like a nice feature to have. So, I upgraded to Nordpass premium.

Extra features do help me feel more secure online. For example, the Health feature sends me notifications, if any of existing passwords becomes not less secure.

Is nordpass safe?

From my personal experience, I would say Nordpass is safe. It correctly autosaves and autofills information. While sharing passwords with my wife, I also haven’t noticed anything insecure. Also, Nordpass has never been hacked or had a breach.

Cons

At first, when I was setting up the app, I noticed that it only autofills details, if you have an extension installed to your browser. But once you use it, I wouldn’t say that’s something that would bug me, because the extension is there and it runs automatically.

So Reddit, what would be my Nordpass review after using it for more than 2 years? I will extend my subscription and would recommend it to others. Share your experience, if you used this service.

I’ve used NordPass for a few years now, and I can’t imagine not using a password manager at this point. It’s super convenient not only for storing passwords, but credit card details, personal details.

I also use NordPass, and for me personally data breach scanner was a useful feature. Overall, I would say app works well.

For me autofill works much better with NordPass and I can autofill more info, not just passwords

I am using Nordpass free version, but I think it’s time to switch to the premium. Thanks for the detailed review

Using NordPass myself, really changed my password game

I’ve had NordPass (paid) for about 2 years. I’d say it’s the height of mediocrity.

The desktop browser plugins work about half the time, if that. More often than not I find myself copy and pasting from the app.

Passwords for mobile apps rarely work.

I’ve got a year left on my 3-year subscription, then I’ll likely switch to something else. Considering 1Password or Bitwarden.

I just gave a try to emails masking feature, and it works well.

After LastPass’s wheels fell off, I opted for NordPass, as I was using NordVPN and was very happy with it. NordPass is a cluster f*k, in all honesty. If you subscribe, DO NOT subscribe to the annual plans. There is a 30-day window, but some issues will not manifest until later.

Key gripes:

  1. It doesn’t allow for folder sharing; they market folder sharing, but that’s only available for Enterprise, not family subscriptions. LastPass and 1Password, my current Password Manager, support folder sharing. NordPass has a feature for sharing passwords, but the implementation is clunky and doesn’t automatically sync.

  2. Autofill is a mystery. Sometimes, it will work, but most of the time, it will not. Couple this with Gripe#1 while trying to work with a technologically illiterate spouse and extrapolate the eventual chaos. My partner could never get NordPass to work, and when I attempted to fix her credentials, it was a marathon process every time. I assumed it was her not following the steps, but then I realized NordPass syncs weren’t working for her, and when auto-fills failed, she would create several iterations of the same account each time she needed access. Since switching to 1Password, those issues are nonexistent.

  3. Customer Service - When I reached out initially for the lack of folder sharing, I was told there was a bug in why the items weren’t syncing. This was a lie to get me to the 30-day window. I signed up for the individual account to try the features, but since folder sharing was essential, I upgraded to Family (annually) within a day. Rather than cancel the Individual account or credit the difference between Family and Individual subscription tiers, they kept both on yearly plans; who does that? Of course, I just realized that after the 30-day window.

I have been using 1Password for 60 days, and it works seamlessly on all devices without hiccups. My wife is comfortable with it on her Pixel8 and her laptop. When I contacted customer support for minor assistance with transferring passwords, the response was within minutes, not a day or so later.

Has anyone switched or used another PW that’s not LastPass? Would like to hear some other experiences. Cheers!

This is enough for me to take the offer, despite some reservations from the negative comments. It’s only twenty bucks, I’ll risk it, and move on if it’s not satisfactory.

It does offer it.
It does not deliver it. This app is broken.

NordVPN/Nordpass user for 3 years now.

Seems like a great password manager. Maybe anyone compared it to other popular password managers?

I’m using NordPass for quite some time, but it was only on my laptop.

Recently I downloaded the app on the phone and I can say it’s been a struggle. Maybe I’m dumb and I have not done a step to solve this, but the autofill whenever I log in somewhere doesn’t show anything for me. The iphone autofill keeps coming up as I’ve used it before.

I found one thing strange on NordPass. It was when I tried to copy and paste the generated password. It would let me copy and paste once, so unless I saved the generated password before I pasted it on the website, I didn’t have an opportunity to save it.

But I guess this is a safety feature, not a bad thing. Anyway, users should keep this in mind.

As for everything else, it works fine - as it should. It’s definitely more secure than Chrome’s password manager.

All of you who consider to extend/buy NordPass premium:
please be aware, that in case of problems you can only count on long discussion with support, but most “clever” answer they can provide is “please turn of antivirus, vpn (if any), and reinstall plugin”
I described my problem here:
Browser extension works very very slowly : r/NordPass (reddit.com)

TL;DR: extension works so slowly that it is impossible to use NP.
I bought 2 years plan, and after 4 month I stay with non working service, and NP team can not solve the problem, and when requested refund (propotional to remaining plan)- they say “no, our terms says you have 30 days for refound”.
In comments you can see that not only me has this problem, so there is something what makes extension not working, but NP do not want to take responsibility.

Like 10% of the time it does not work on PC, Firefox. A lot of times it does not auto-fill CC details. Android, Firefox, works at random. Its not bad, they should fix android version though.

I switched from LastPass to the free version of NordPass in late 2022 after LastPass’s data breaches. I only use the Firefox extension and I only use it on one device, a PC running Windows 10. I use it for generating, storing, and filling in login credentials. I don’t use any other features.

I’ve been very happy with it. It works fast. I have never experienced the slowdown other people have reported. Occasionally it won’t be able to fill in the login form on a website and I’ll have to click on the NordPass icon on the upper right and then copy and paste the login data. I reported such a site once and a couple of months later NordPass had fixed the problem on that site.

My only complaint is that NordPass likes to pop up and ask me stuff that seems unnecessary sometimes, usually about saving form entries. Another minor irritant is that it has become harder to report a site that doesn’t work in recent versions. That might be because I’m using the free version.

100%. This is my exact experience as well. I’ve been using it for 3 years.
