When I click the Connect button, nothing happens. It was working flawlessly, I don’t know what happened.
Does anyone have an idea?

Give more information, ffs.
Disable Permanent VPN checkbox in Settings>Nets>VPN
Resurrecting this dead corpse of a thread because I’ve had the same problem and for 2 days straight I have not been able to research or otherwise figure it out.
Turns out, wireguard was set as an always-on VPN and it was preventing OpenVPN Connect from doing anything. My config worked from windows, but I’d try it on my android device and the the connect button would only flash momentarily. Beyond that, nothing would happen. It wouldn’t attempt a connection or even create any log entries. I was baffled…this post is over 4 years old but was the exact fix I needed.
Praise be to the spirits.
Gladly, but as nothing happens when I click the button, I don’t know what I can provide more.
I was just hoping that there was a quick fix for this, although even Google was not of any help.
Thank you very much!
I knew DNS66 might have been causing this; I tried turning it off and reinstalling it but I didn’t know about this setting.
Thanks a million.
Where is this option can’t find it
This right here 7 years later saved me
For me, Blokada was set up as an always-on VPN so OpenVPN couldn’t create the connection.
You beautiful bastard. This fixed it for me. I had Surfshark installed and set as an always on VPN.
Sucks that the openvpn app just flickers the connect switch on and off without an error or notification to tell you what’s going wrong. But anyway, this fixed it
Device, version(s) and most importantly what VPN service and what settings… check that the server isn’t down.
Try foce stopping OpenVPN Connect and try rebooting device.
ps. Not really a fix, but I prefer this client: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.blinkt.openvpn
Same over here, thank you very much
Thanks, I tried that app too, same result. I am using this vpn server on other devices and they just work fine. That’s why I’m almost sure this is about Android.
I tried complete re-installation too.
Maybe there is a setting or something similar that prevents establishing VPN connections.
What other devices work? Are you using tap or tun? You want to use tun for android/iphone.
