Proton VPN using icloud+

My question is easy: does it be better if I use proton VPN + icloud+ all the time, or if I use icloud+ (hiring my IP) is not necessary to use proton VPN?

For me, iCloud Private Relay is a terrific backup feature for those occasional times when I’m using Safari with my VPN off. Other than that, when my VPN is on, the feature is just there not doing anything.

I assume you mean iCloud Private Relay. If so then when you use Proton VPN, iCloud Private Relay does not work at the same time.

Any VPN connection, including from Proton VPN, supersedes iCloud Private Relay (iCloud+). Whether you want to use one or the other depends on your threat model.

Private Relay is NOT a VPN and they are not equivalent. Crucially, it only works within the safari browser and not with apps or services.

Well just use Proton VPN, not really any need for Private Relay at that point, they don’t work together anyway.

That is correct. Proton VPN will work everywhere and if you turn it off, then Private Relay will work, but only in safari.

I apologies cause I am not an expert, I’m just trying to know the best way to protect my privacity. Do you recomend me then to use proton VPN all the time?

If you think you need a VPN, Proton is a great choice. It’s much better than iCloud Private Relay. I use Proton VPN 24/7 on all my devices.

I am already using all proton premium suscription apps. I just need to clarify that point. I think proton is the best VPN at this moment, like protonmail
