ProtonVPN 2-year subscription deal

On this page there’s a deal: ProtonVPN Plus for 2 years for $80. The same would cost $153.6 when buying anually and already having ProtonMail account. I didn’t see any advertisement on ProtonVPN website or a post on this subreddit. Just a comment here.

Is this deal legit and created by Proton themselves? Seems weird to be using external site and sharing money with them when you could just give a coupon that would last X days.

Official response would be great. Offer ends in 3 days.

It will have to be created by them as they’ll have to supply and generate the keys. But I agree it seems weird for them to use stack social I’ve always associated stack social with “lesser quality” VPN’s.

I did buy it. Faking info was a bit annyoing, but worth the price. After buying it I was indeed redirected here. However, I couldn’t redeem the code, having already seted up free ProtonVPN account. Hopefully support will help me.

They were kind enough to reply during a weekend.

Hello XYZ,

Thanks for contacting us.

Indeed, the stacksocial offer is official, so feel free to grab one of those coupons. We appreciate your report regarding this, and thanks for the suggestion!

If you have any additional questions, please let us know. Have a pleasant weekend!

Regards,
Zoran

Stacksocial are indeed legit. Bought plenty of bundles, courses and lifetime subscriptions off them.

Insane they didn’t even endorse it here here. I’m a Nordvpn subscriber and stuff like this that annoyed me

I made a purchase from StackSocial using coupon code MYSTERYSALE which dropped my 2-year ProtonVPN Plus subscription cost to US$72. I then activated my account. Since I am using a 5K iMac running High Sierra, I downloaded the ProtonVPN Mac client, version 1.2.3. I can connect using QuickConnect, with or without Secure Core, or I can manually connect to any of the servers listed. The problem is, no matter what browser I use, even though it allows me to do keyword searches on Google, when I click any link in the search results, the page starts to load but then gets stuck and never loads no matter how long I wait. Same thing happens when I manually type an address in the address bar. Disconnecting the client restores my internet again. Anyone else have this problem?

I suggest to avoid third party deal site and always get vpn from official site. Such third party won’t provide good after sale service; if you got into trouble during your subscription.

PS: There is a new year promotion by ProtonVPN. You can save huge when you buy vpn for 2 plus years. No coupon needed.

Remember the HumbleBundle marketing fiasco?

What do you mean by “faking info”?

Thank you for the updates. So it sounds like it is for NEW Accounts only. And we will need to create new accounts for VPN and Email…

/u/protonvpn it would be good of you to let us add this to our existing accounts. It would be upgrades for some of us. And that way you would get the revenue and have less accounts and overhead.

Yeah, I was just surprised that this deal was not advertised (or barely).

Well, I don’t know what’s the problem but perhaps you should first try to ping 1.1.1.1 and then google.com. If the former passes and latter does not, you have problem with DNS and should check on Linux /etc/resolv.conf.

Well, I’m not from ProtonVPN support but from what I understand, if you buy ProtonVPN Plus with this code and then want to buy ProtonMail to the same account, you’ll still see buying ProtonVPN Plus in the summary because you didn’t buy they at the same time and you’ll have to pay a bit more to make it even (so the ending dates are the same). But it should be a very small amount.

You haved to give billing address (full name, addess, phone number).

Sorry for the delay. I was out of town. They answered me and you can redeem the code even if you were an existing user. However, it will only work if you haved a 2-year plan before. Fortunately, I did. If you do, you have to buy 2-year ProtonVPN Plus plan on Protonvpn.com and use the redeem code as a coupon. You’ll have to pay a bit extra to extend your ProtonMail subscription (so it’s even with the ProtonVPN one).

I know. I found out about stackocial by word of mouth. Now I’m subscribed to their newsletter.

With ProtonVPN turned OFF, I can PING 1.1.1.1 & google.com and get responses in less than 10ms. With ProtonVPN (& Secure Core) ON, I can PING 1.1.1.1 & google.com and get responses in 428ms & 463ms, respectively. Slowless with VPN ON is to be expected, but following your test does not fix the problem I have, which is that I can do Google keyboard searched in-browser with ProtonVPN ON, but I cannot load webpages. By the way, I loaded this web page with the VPN OFF, and then I turned VPN ON and wrote this message, but when I clicked Reply, it times out! I then turned VPN OFF, and was able to submit this reply. Further thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
