For a long time on this app as well as the official app, media would fail to load, or load as if I was secretly throttled on data. I have a VPN app that I don’t utilize much, but decided to try it after getting annoyed with loading issues again.
Everything on Reddit loads fast now. No more waiting for images or gifs to load for 30 seconds.
I’m on AT&T. Not sure that matters. Not sure why things work on VPN vs not. But there it is.
If you’re a user experiencing the loading issues, I’d recommend trying a VPN!
Initially I thought this was caused by my home and workplace still using Wifi 5 APs due to having previously pinpointed other connection issues stemming from WiFi 6-capable devices connecting to these older APs, especially after my gf’s place recently had a new router/AP installed by Comcast.
But now that my place recently got its own update, I still get throttling. My suspicion then turned to AT&T, which is corroborated by other comments on this post. I’ll try out a VPN tonight & tomorrow to see what happens
I have at&t for home Internet as well, and when on Wi-Fi I have the same issue with Reddit. But only on my phone. From my desktop evening runs perfectly fine.
