i am trying to help my Russian friend with vpns. i was sharing ExpressVPN with her, but apparently rus gov enforced changes that blocked most vpns. ExpressVPN have stated they’re trying to fix it, but it hasn’t happened yet.
do you know any vpns that work in Russia? i also tried OpenVPN but couldn’t get it to work for her. Any ideas appreciated!
Try Proton, apparently that one works well in Russia. Plus their entire suite of services is quite good, and they’re adding new features regularly.
ETA: The Stealth protocol in ProtonVPN is an interesting thing as well, it makes your VPN activity look like normal browsing. I can’t say as to how effective it is, though.
Bro, try rent a VPS, let your Russian friend ping it’s IP, if it works, then install a VPN on it by yourself.
V2fly is a good project. Google it.
Any questions is free to ask me.
I’ve been using lastseenvpn (look it up on telegram) for a month or so, no problems by far. windscribe connects sometimes but is very unstable and I wouldn’t rely on it(although more than a year passed since it was banned and still it can connect)
I’m using a hacked one because they don’t accept money from Russia and I’m lazy but you should probably rent a private server or something if you’re planning to do something even remotely dangerous.
Self hosted is the best. WireGuard or ovpn server could cost just 5 euros per month, f.e. in Hetzner. Also there you could chose rather OS or App which you want for new server, and you might choose WireGuard App (based on Ubuntu). Web gui, admin side, 20TB of traffic per month.
