I play online games with my friends like Garry’s Mod. My ping used to be 50 and just normal but for some reason its minimum 130 now and its unplayable. when i turn off WARP it gets fixed. What do i do? It wasn’t like this bofore.
Do you use WARP all the time?
What problem are you trying to solve? Are you using a shared unsecured network?
Why are you using warp play games? It will introduce latency.
i agree, it doesn’t work properly on mac. when i restart it it gives ipc error. but it works fine on windows
Probably because Cloudflare WARP client is preferring MASQUE network protocol (it’s newer than Wireguard) but MASQUE is not rolled out everywhere it seems so you are getting connected to a more distant location, you can check e.g. if https://whatismyipaddress.com/ shows your country as exit node in Cloudflare. There is no option (unfortunately) to force Wireguard over MASQUE in the official desktop client (they should fix that). In my experience the ping increases with MASQUE server being a more far location but the throughput in Mbit/s also increases.
You can install the official Wireguard client and create your own (only) Wireguard connection with wgcf through Cloudflare WARP though. I used wgcf also in the past, it’s great.
WARP for gaming is such a missed opportunity for cloudflare.
it isnt just latency, it also ends up as RESTRICTED nat for various games using p2p

Cloudflare Zero Trust customers can pick Wireguard or MASQUE on the tenant level. Consumers can not, and frankly that is probably fine because Cloudflare will probably roll out MASQUE to all the Warp datacenters soon enough that it will only be a temporary issue anyway.

Can’t you configure WARP to ignore the game, so it goes directly through your connection? Or is the game banned too?
Honestly I’d recommend using a paid VPN that has a client that can do split tunneling so you can let the game bypass the vpn but force discord to use it for example. I use private internet access, have for many years, they have good deals.
Use the free ZT version and create an include split rule so that only Discord goes through WARP
If you use warp zero trust with tls decryption you create latency.
Cloudflare is testing a new VPN protocol in their WARP clients. And they are not rolled out everywhere in the World in every country. You cannot force the old protocol on the desktop client unless you use wgcf. I’m guessing easiest is to switch to another VPN provider if you want to play with a VPN (or turn off VPN).
