I didn’t pay attention to the notices of subscription renewal including a price hike, so in the end my fault but god damn, it went from $80 CAD annual in my first billing to $208 for one year?
Good on you Nord, pulled a fast one there, way to loose a customer who won’t be renewing anymore though, dummies.
Tip for all nord users - turn off auto renewal. You’ll get discount offers as your expiry date nears. There also are always rate specials/discount codes if you google for them. Also they will offer you specials if you ask. I missed a renewal deadline once and just called/chat and got a deal that they weren’t offer publicly. I think it was an extra 6 months on a year plan.
Use the Black Friday promo every few years … just check out as though you’re new and sign in when you pay … if it shows a higher price go back a few clicks and go again with the BF promo while signed in.
I just had this happen to me. I contacted them through the chat option on the website and asked for a cancellation as per the 30 day cancellation rule. I was then offered 18 months on top of the year I already had - which I accepted.
You can always buy another subscription before your existing one expires. They have Black Friday special right now and you can get 2 year + 3 free months for about $80.
I had auto renewal off and they renewed it anyway. I asked for a refund and paddle said it was impossible. A few days later nord emailed me saying they auto renewed my subscription without prior notice and so would give me a free month. I was like, hell no. The price they charged me for a year was pretty much the same for two years had I bought the subscription myself instead of auto renewal. It was crazy. Eventually I got them to give me my money back. I haven’t renewed since. I found their attitude really sketchy.
Yeah just went ahead and did this, the current payment is from today and the upcoming period so I might just go ahead and dispute the payment, if I’m enough of a headache maybe they’ll just refund something

I wouldn’t start the cc dispute process. Nord policy let’s you cancel at any time and refunds the balance. .o when you reach customer support just tell them you didn’t want to autorenew at that rate. They will offer you a better rate. Ask once more if that is the best they can do as sometimes you can squeak out a little more. But do yourself a favor and Google first so you can see the best discount rate that is publicly out there. I got that plus the extra free months when I called.
Ahh … if you go into the chatbot and type ‘cancellation’ the bot panics and puts you through to a human who does it live. However I had to mention the 30 day cancellation period to get them to do it. Otherwise they were saying it’s in the T&Cs etc. … but as soon as I said I want a cancellation and refund under the 30 days rule they quickly offered me a deal until June 2026 for what I already paid. This new date was fixed before I even left the chat.
It’s pretty much up to you, but beyond being a us-based vpn, they were purchased by a less-than-reputable company in 2018 by the name of Kape.
Sentiment in the vpn community towards them basically tanked after that; you can type in PIA in a few vpn subreddits for preferences one way or another. Hope this helps
