What's wrong with the Firefox extension? I encounter constant disconnects

Hello,

I’ve been using PIA for about a month now and everything works fine but the firefox extension (I am using the latest release 3.2.5).

I keep constant / random disconnects all the time in different browsers and devices. Extension says I am still connected but pages do not load anymore after a while. Sometimes it helps to manually change the server. Sometimes the browser needs to be closed in order to fix it.

Occasionally I get logged out as well saying that credentials have been changed (which they haven’t). A re-login is neccessary then. Very annoying.

Does someone else encounter the same problems and / or has a solution?

You don’t use ff extensions, run the free app they offer.

I had the same issue. I switched over to proton VPN and have no regrets.

PIA support refused to do anything for me.

I have the exact same issues. All of what you describe.

I found no solution except the ones you have tried.

I gave up and just deal with it because I like the FF browser extension. It allows me to keep my system on my iSP IP, and browse with VPN.

I’m getting the same thing. ANNOYING AF. Looking at the FF extension page and it says that it was last updated almost 2 years ago (Feb 21, 2023). Wish I had seen that before I PAID for 3 years of PIA. To everyone telling us to use the app instead: the add-on is offered for a reason, the add-on is what makes sense for browsing to a lot of people. Anyways, did you find a fix?

No, unfortunately no fix and no reply from PIA support.
Extension disconnected just now again while I am writing this.
I will switch to Proton or Nord once my subscription ends. They do not have this annoying problem.

Well, this is like “use your car, not your bike”.
It’s an option PIA offers and I like it for certain use cases.

I simply cannot figure out why it is not working reliably on any of my devices. Other VPN services offer this, too, and never had any problems with them. To make sure I tried it in a fresh browser, same thing.

Btw, I disabled debug mode in the extension and haven’t gotten this in a few days (fingers crossed). Not sure why PIA enables debug mode by default…
