Automatic contact syncing to Proton Drive would be fantastic!
Proton team, I was just told by Atlassian employee that they and their products (Jira, cloud etc) don’t allow registration with SimpleLogin and Proton addresses either. Any possibility to approach them too and get this reviewed by them? (Obviously they won’t do something like that just because a customer like me complained)
Planned for android! Come on, grapheneOS users are unhappy to hear you are not taking care of our privacy! You’d think as you tote being a privacy company you’d be quicker!
Well I want to use Thunderbird. I have been since I was about 11 and thought it sounded cool. But luckily, I’ve been procrastinating installing it since I upgraded my PC last year and now’s a great time to set up 2 clients cleanly
In the email itself you can still access the full URL of the tracker (in web/desktop/iOS/iPadOS), and also the original URLs of the cleaned URLs (in the web app/desktop app).
I would like to test that, but I don’t know how. Quite some time ago, when clicking on a link in Thunderbird, it would ask if I wanted to open the cleaned or tracked URL or cancel with a popup with the 3 buttons. Is that how Proton does it too? I would do my own test, but I’ll have to wait for an email to come in and I’ll certainly forget by then
Have you thought about the major plus point of using an encrypted
I’m still here aren’t I? Anyway, I don’t think any of the usability gap is due to the encryption, besides needing a dedicated app sometimes (what a nightmare). It’s just features that haven’t been implemented due to not having the might of advertising behind them.
Yeah I agree. In that specific case, it didn’t matter. But it does show that tracker blocking can and has broken legitimate links. It proves that it’s theoretically possible for there to not even be a clean link in existence. Like the site will check that the tracker has succeeded before redirecting you to the page you want.
French activist
Lets have the correct info here:
Also, the charges leveraged in the French case were theft and destruction of property, which were well evidenced, substantiated, and quite serious crimes. Their identity was known to police already. The fact that Proton is end-to-end encrypted likely saved them from more serious charges (and proof that Proton’s encryption cannot be bypassed).

Well I suppose I would use Tuta if I really needed maximum encryption. But they’re closed source, and German. While not perfect, Proton seems to be the best currently available. And I thank my lucky stars it’s also the one that offers the most complete degoogling suite all in one place.
I still miss nested tags
What do you miss about Gmail’s interface? I started using Email in 2003 and never used any feature introduce after that, besides spam filter and coloured markings.
My understanding is that IPv6 is still in its infancy and by the time it becomes significant, all providers including Proton will have proper support. Even Gmail technically has it, but it’s annoying to use.
Can you explain the significance of the non expiring encryption key?
I haven’t received a broken link yet, but I hear you have the option to use it with or without trackers. someone in this thread said it I think
Yeah I’ve decided to get 2 years of Unlimited on Black Friday. What’s the worst that could happen?
Contact the postmaster team [email protected] with sender/recipient and time stamp information, so the team can check whether the email arrives at all at the proton side.
Knowing subject lines alone you can conclude a lot from somebody’s activities.
True. But I don’t think it’s much more than they can get from the sender and recipient names. And you can’t hide those. The postman has to know everyone’s address, yknow? I suppose they could encrypt them both, just not in a zero knowledge way. Seems like more of a drawback than not using PGP though, from what I hear (not just from Proton themselves)
Aggresive inactive account policy.
I think you’ve missed the news as I did a couple of times in this post. Or maybe they reinstated it and i missed that.
Yeah, it’s too rare and is refreshing to see a company that actually addresses questions without bullshit fluff and with real answers instead.
Edit: The guy with the broken link problem from tracker blocking is here
This wasn’t Proton’s fault as the team had also stated over there. Also OP seemed to make the case that its Proton actually tracking its users, which is also wrong. Best if you forget whatever you read in that thread and don’t let yourself be afraid from one weird thread.
Enjoy the Mail Plus service.
Fyi, you can use any cloud service for drives (even google) download and use Cryptomator to encrypt everything on the drives.
You can use your own domain with proton as well. I have my own domain for email because it looks cool, and (God forbid) if Proton ever does go bad I can change email providers without changing my email address. Also, I’ve never had my domain rejected for any account sign ups.
I’ve had companies with idiot IT departments be unable to send to .me, but I just tell them to use the protonmail.com.
