It seems that recently I have seen an increase in the amount of people on here saying they have had their accounts suspended. Maybe this is not the case? Or is there something going on with Windscribe?
Nothing has changed. We’ve just started enforcing our abuse policy.
Turns out some people aren’t happy when they get banned for using 7.5 PB of data per month.
You’re right. Yegor recently disclosed on Discord that they have implemented changes to the anti-abuse and auto-ban system after discovering that hundreds of accounts were being resold to 30-50 people per account. As a result, these accounts are now being banned, and the process will continue as they identify more accounts.
I wouldn’t be concerned about complaints regarding account suspensions, as most of those affected likely purchased their accounts from third-party resellers or shared them with a large number of individuals.
No, so far I’ve been very impressed with windscribe VPN, and their community
No issues here , don’t forget some people really abuse vpn accounts specially if they say unlimited devices and unlimited traffic.
Don’t forget fair use and stuff.
I got my data breached a long time ago and was threatened by wind scribe to shut down my account (I bought lifetime deal long ago,). I was pretty upset about it then and even still hope it doesn’t go against me. They said if they ever saw suspicious activity again I would be banned but I literally got my info sold on the net apparently.
Edit: because I did not know about the info, and just got threatened, I honestly thought they were trying to find an excuse to remove my lifetime service. I now see apparently a lot of people abuse these accounts. But being just a victim in this situation it didn’t sit right with me.
I currently use Windscribe but my account has not been suspended.
I believe there’s not anything wrong that’s recently changed except it’s around the holidays, and numerous users are now using their accounts and discovering that for one reason or another, their account has been suspended.
I have my laptop usually always on vpn, and it i use it for a secure htspot to my two personal phones and other desktop pc for proxy. In total, that count as 6 devices connected to vpn throughout my laptop. Does that count as abusing in any way?
I do have a vpn app on both phones that i occasionally use outside
False detection also occur just so you know. I got warning just because I have 10 or something chrome profile with Windscribe addon each in one single PC (device). The email warning sent to my email every time I connected in one of my profile. It’s not like I’m browsing at the same time with those profiles… Tried to reach your CS and they said it violate personal use terms, which baffled me because it still count as one device after all (according to Gary).
But that’s okay, I’ve subscribed another VPN in case you guys ban me.
A bit of friendly advice: Fix your CS. It’s kinda sucks have to wait 24hrs for every single email reply.
Is that an exaggeration or a real number?
7.5 PB? Is that real?
(sorry) what you mean by 7.5 PB ?
I know this is a somewhat old discussion, but hopefully Windscribe isn’t pulling an underhanded stunt like mobile carriers where unlimited doesn’t really mean how the dictionary defines unlimited.
I understand and support weeding out people who are reselling access, especially if they aren’t giving a cut of the proceeds to Windscribe, but if someone just sits around watching porn or really high res cat videos all day, they shouldn’t be penalized. Admittedly it’d probably take some talent to use 7.5PB worth of data in a month doing those sorts of activities, but I’m sure there are some people out there who could do it.
easy fix. change password to your windscribe account, delete all sessions and keys. That way nobody has your windscribe “info” anymore.
So i assume as long as the client is from the same ip, it shouldn’t matter or not ?
That’s a real number from a single user account.
1 petabyte = 1000 terabytes
7,5 PB = 7500 Terabytes , 1 Terabyte = 1000gb
thats Literal huge company traffic.
Yeah I let Google decide my crazy passwords now. It’s easier that way.
